Theresa Haney
Team Northrup Leader
Red Hook, NY

Theresa and Pepi are Creative Arts Therapists who met in Graduate School in 1993. They attracted Team Northrup into their lives in 2005 when their private practice, Damselfly Center, was peeking with success. Theresa was a worrier and with this success came the ‘What if’s’. ‘What if something happened to one of us’ or ‘what if something happened to the economy?’ A premonition? Well, we all know how that played out in 2008. Thankfully, nothing happened, but with the economy declining, we downsized 3 offices to 1, with a corresponding decline in income. Scary times they were. Gratefully, we had Team Northrup and our USANA business growing and with a little more attention, it carried us through. That year, 2008, we had a 300% increase in our income and the personal growth, as a result, was enlightening. Worry? It’s a thing of the past, mostly, due to the shift in perspective that is inherent in becoming an entrepreneur. Theresa retired as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Autism consultant and closed Damselfly Center in the Spring 2012. Our USANA business replaced her income and then some. Pepi maintains her full time job as an LCAT and Director of Day Habilitation.
As artist’s and therapist’s, It was a necessity to change both our beliefs and expectations in order to shift our attention to understanding that healing and wholeness may be delivered in more ways than we had ever imagined. That art indeed has an expansive definition if allowed. We had to realign with the notion that making a living and having a life are two different things – we chose the latter

“There is only one success—to be able to spend life in your own way.” – Anonymous
OK. So we have no idea who said that, but we certainly agree. The question is, how? How can we fashion our lives so that we can spend it any way we choose? We want to wake up when we’re done sleeping, vacation when we want to, spend as much time working as we feel necessary, enjoy time at home with family as we like and have enough money to make all of that a reality.
It took us a while but we figured it out. It all started when we moved from New York City to Boulder, Colorado nearly three years ago—and much to our surprise (especially Ayan’s) we have been thrilled with our decision. Liza was pregnant when we decided to move and we have a hunch our little Luna was the driving force behind the whole plan. We are both acupuncturists and share interests in health, travel, food, and quality of life. As much as we love being acupuncturists, we learned quickly that there was no way our salaries would be able to pay for our daughter’s education or our big appetite for life.
That’s when we were introduced to Team Northrup and the benefits of residual income. We haven’t looked back since. Four years later, we’re enjoying all the benefits that financial freedom brings- peace of mind being the most profound of all side effects.
